Moved my Lovely Trusted Industrial Embroidery Bernina 217 Sewing Machine to the corner edge of my room. I got this Bernina from a wonderful lady who sold me this machine from Trademe.co.nz from way up on Upper Hutt, Wellington. Got it delivered to Karori, Wellington City, and then to Hataitai, Wellington City, and straight to south east asia, Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia. Its current location now, my room, my old home.

Got a freaking huge mirror. I still yet to hung it up. I think I need a few people to do this. Got to get the height ‘just’ right. Notice how my curtain was shortened? Have to do the same for the next windows.

My room has been going under some very drastic changes, and its still not ready yet. I’m still redecorating it and everything. It’s a long but will be satisfying process. It will be the most wonderful room soon :D.

Vintage Butterick 6015

image

While browsing the wikipedia's vintage pattern website. I found this amazing dress. Which would look fabulous at this time. I even saw a few pictures uploaded by the owner of this pattern after successfully made this dress for themselves.

image

The polka dot using two same but contrasted fabric is such a delight to my eyes. It just says,

SO NOW and FOREVER.

You can buy this pattern at butterick.com click here or for me, trying to make it from scratch!

I think I can imagine how you wear it. It doesn't have a zipper, the only closure for this dress is the buttons or hook or eyes in front of your waist.

It is a very long piece after you joined it up all together.

one front panel (with chest darts and waist darts).

one back (with the front closure)

one pattern of full circular skirt (that you will attach to the back pattern - front closure.)

you can prettify the look by using contrasting binding with the fabric you using for this pattern. Like how this fellow seamstress did to the blue gingham and the red satin binding.

A thought I am having is that... is it safe to walk around? Well because the back is not practically sewn to the front, having it a vague open air design... I say open air, because if the air blows your skirt, it'll be an open view by air. Lol. Anyway, I'm sure there is no reason to worry as this full circular skirt covers right to the front.

For a person like me, who prefers safety over risky, I'd probably will definitely do some hidden buttons, maybe at the edge of the front panel, and slip stitch a button loop/ add a small tab of button holes at the inside of the circular skirt, to make sure that , when I walk or cross roads, or walk up the stairs, or climbing up something, the front panel will stick to the circular skirt.

Fabulous Idea I say!

Vintage camisole - Tailor made to fit (and about darts)

DSC08256

This is what I made this week. Using a vintage looking fabric I got from spotlight NZ. Made it into a camisole, non adjustable strap, with short V-neckline.

I don't have a certificate or go to any fashion schools. I have books and references. I used an old pattern Butterick 3193 size 14. I am actually a size 16. So I needed to adjust the pattern. But I have  adjusted the pattern too much to size 20 the first time. And I was having a headache after. I left it for awhile. And decided to make toile. I made another pattern, and added half inch on one side of the camisole pattern, and drew a line along it. I even lengthen the camisole by 2 inches. Now, the thing is, everyone has different size busts. So momentarily the bust size is for size 14, which was one size smaller from me.

*(for every one up size you want to develop or one size smaller, in my case, I added half an inch on front side if its on a fold and half inch on the back side with a on fold pattern, it will make the top bigger by two inch for each size.)

I learnt on how to make darts for busts. From the axis/peak of ur bust, the dart must lie 1.5 inches away from it. To explain about darts, It is used to shape a part of the body, like the chest area, the hip and waist.

The dart used for this camisole is called the triangular dart.

Hope you learn something new today, Cause with this project I did. Any questions? Please do leave a comment :)

The most beautiful smile

The next time when anyone tries to put you down, you tell them "keep your negative comment to yourself, i am happy being who i am" give them a big pretty smile and walk off.

Realizing any current situation is the key to convey any personal related emotions you could not answer and had just felt.

Sometimes, talking about your feelings would really open up a whole new world. Start asking question why do you feel vulnerable, Why do you feel upset? Why are you lashing out on silly stuff?

Then, you realize things, and in that order, you have the power to change how things affect you and your life.

No one likes to feel sad or upset, terrible or simply full of hate.

That's why in turn, you have that power to control your feelings , and like the wheel of fortune, swirls back, you understand how that person must feel in order for them to see such impure thoughts that they criticize on.

Nature's most wonder, to live free, big and happy. You owe it to yourself to have your happiness. Have a big smile, everyday. Every single god given day. You're worth it.

Nothing may make you feel vulnerable without your consent, nor any actions. The power of emotions lies on your very palms and what you decide to do with it.

Confidence is yours. And Happiness is everyone's. Share them :)
Smile back :) no matter what the odds are.
Take control of a situation with a bright happy feeling :)

Projects !!!! October 2009 "Let's Finish our Projects!"

I have so many projects in my mind, I need to re-organize!

First off I'd like to make some Rose Solid Perfume in Pots!

I got this tutorial from craftbit.com, Click on the picture to go on its webby.

Now this is my second project, Making a Mannequin Head to display hats and other hair accessories. I plan to use simple pattern fabric for this. I had achieved the front part by literally drawing the pattern from my own face and putting darts where it applies, It was fine, up to when I decided to unravel the threads to readjust the condition of the darts, and now its all haywire again. I wanted to make a mannequin head that looks like a real head, With eyelids and lips and a nose. So this would take some time to keep on experimenting.  I can already imagine it. I just need to work it till it almost look like what's in my imagination.

For Spring Summer 2009, I'd like to produce an Alice in the Wonderland inspired Collection. I have started now, besides drawing and fabric swatch-ing. :) This will over turn, get its full focus.

And last but not least, My screenprinting project. Since my OKI Printer that is supposedly be able to print my textile designs isnt working MUCH! Had it sent to the repairs for 1 months plus, and was not able to produce the amount of stuff I would like for my flea market earlier this month, I resorted to screen printing, although the scratch proof-ness and waterproof-ness is not going to be there, it will still be fine. I am going to do a A4 screenprinting first, for the Keep Calm Collection bags.

So here it is, all my wonderful projects that needs to be completed , one way, or another!

is there anything that you would like to do this month ? Lets finish our projects!!!!
